today was the last episode of the show '我们的饭店'.. it was such a good show with the sad, sentimental and touching ending to the show.. starring thomas ong, michelle cheong and some other peeps.. i don't know their names.. this show kinda accompanied me almsot every mondays when i was in camp..
learnt a lot of stuffs from the show.. the cooking stuffs expecially.. didn't know got such methods.. may seemed far-fetched but i'm gonna try them out someday.. other than that, the jokes, kinship and the sentimental values are the plus points to the show.. kinda sad the show's come to an end but all good things gotta come to an end somehow..
it's like a 1 hour serial shown every week.. every week, a special dish would be prepared by the peeps in the restaurant to help somebody in some way or another.. there's this lady who don't dare to eat rice due to bulimia and she need to do an ad with her eating rice so Big饭 (thomas ong) ,the boss of the restaurant came up with this idea of coating the rice with chocolate since she like chocolate, adding some almond nuts and cooking the rice with chinese tea to reduce the smell and taste of rice..
today episode was kinda sad la.. Big饭 hired a private investigator to find his girlfriend who was missing for 7 years to find that she's dead.. he drops into depression and wrecks his restaurant until his lil' bro brings a woman who looks exactly like her to see him and to help him to move on as the woman's married and has a kid..
but he's adamant she's his girlfriend because she loves his fried rice, uses the same perfume and everything about her was so familiar and warm.. in the end he found out from the woman's husband that she indeed is her past girlfriend but she takes on another identity now because she was involved in a car accident 7 years ago while she was on the way to meet Big饭.. and he was waiting to propose to her.. in the end she was sent to hospital, her brain operated 2 times and she forgot everything..
so, her current husband, the brain surgeon kinda lied to her that he was her boyfriend and married her in the end with her new identity.. one condition of knowing the truth from her husband was that Big饭 will not tell the truth to her and still keep her in the dark.. at least now Big饭 knows the truth, still loves her and he didn’t want to break up her family and wishes her happiness..
the twist of the show was that her 7 year old daughter.. she was missing for 7 years and that means she was already pregnant before the accident and the daughter was Big饭's daughter.. because she was pregnant before she married the surgeon!! well, at least he had a daughter with her..
how i wished everybody could get a chance to watch the show.. think only can go mobtv.. haha..
The fried rice recipe is somewhat like this the way i remembered..
overnight rice cooked with pork bone soup kept in the refrigerator overnight without cover.. use egg yolk instead of whites as whites will stick on the wok.. fry til all the rice is covered with yolk like gold colour.. use butter instead of oil for fragrance.. cook the prawns over boiling water before adding in.. put in the chopped scallions and stir-fry before taking up rice..
