the previous week in tekong was fun.. too bad there weren't any pics to share.. ya know, cameras not allowed.. first day was just bronco driving around the forests in tekong.. knocked trees and overcoming small drains.. kinda exciting because the vehicle looked as if it was overturning but it ain't..
there were bunks for us in the outfield.. safari beds, cupboards, toilets, bathroom, etc.. just like a normal camp.. just that it gets a bit cold in the night, had plenty of mosquitoes and is a bit sandy and muddy around the premises..
2nd day was just doing camouflage drill on the vehicle.. timing worsened a lot.. used to do it in a much shorter time.. 3rd day was just only vehicle maintainance.. went back to bmtc to see my old company but no1 was around.. also went to the mess at tekong called 'scabard'.. those place weren't allowed to recruits the last time.. now entered as a sergeant.. feeling's a bit different.. also went to bmtc hq where all the Company Logos plagues were planted.. those of Hawk, Jaguar, Falcon, etc.. it's situated near the ferry terminal so didn't get a chance to go in see because everytime near the terminal is chiong for book-out.. Haha.. those were the days as recruits.. i'll come more to that later.. was expected to go back on the 4th day as many of vehicles were damaged due to the bashing into forests, etc..
did contact drill on the 4th day.. like what we're supposed to do if we were to be contacted by the enemy.. dismount from vehicle and did stuffs what we used to learn in infantry.. good' ol days.. went back to mainland by takin rpl.. those big squarish ships that ferry large vehicles.. dam slow ship.. washed vehicles til 11pm++.. after that ate dinner outside..
thought that we could stay and have fun and slack in camp til saturday when the rest returns but we had to go back tekong (again!!) for a battalion cohesion and movie night.. because my sergeant major took us for the whole week.. learnt a lot from him by the way, he's damn professional.. so he said all must go back.. we were like...
so i decided to go back to my old company good, ol Hawk again in bmtc.. on the way there i saw my sispec buddy!! zijian.. he's posted to ocs since were parted on the sispec days.. damn nice to see him as a officer in Whiskey.. he was from Hawk too, by the way.. but he did not go back with us due to commitments in his current coy..
met up with Boss, Hawk platoon mate/Alpha section mate.. he got posted back to bmtc as a clerk sergeant because he got pneumonia when he was in taiwan the other time.. went back to find out that, seck wang, our Hawk platoon mate was back there again as the 2IC of the company.. damn cool la.. he said he would give the incoming recruits have a memorable experience even better than ours and he want to make the company a better place for the recruits.. nice vision there..
the scrapbook that we all did was still around!! the one we did in bmt days.. the pull up bar was still there and it was the same old soc ground.. we kinda catched up with all the stuff in the bmt days and also what have we been up to lately.. from a Hawk platoon of 50, now in my mortar platoon only left Han Soon who's in the same place as me longest from the Hawk days til today except for the sispec phase..
finally, we parted and bade farewell to them.. and i look at the Hawk Comapny building again.. with all the memories.. Happy, Sad, Tough and not mentioning Fun.. God knows when would i ever have the chance to come back here again.. very thankful to be there.. and guess what.. that day i went was the 1 year and 2 month anniversary since i enlisted.. what a coincidence!! and it made it a more memorable trip..
back to battalion bbq and movie night.. ate bbq and watched 300 for movie night.. cool right.. in the heart of tekong.. projected it on the big white screen and stuff.. went back mainland the next day for more packing of australia trip..
that sums up a fruitful and fun week at tekong.. it's rare for armour peeps to go there to destroy trees and the terrain.. don't think will set foot upon there again.. 8 months and counting more to go.. though O-R-D is a date all have been anticipating but there's this phrase from my friend's officer.. 'In the beginning, you want it to end. But in the end, you want it to start all over again'.. though we all wanna get outta army but it has become a part of us and we sure enjoyed part of it, made good buddies and it sure will become good memories etched in our minds..
the notice board logo was still there. =)
