this week was indeed great.. what a holiday to refreshen and perk me up for the days ahead.. the last week was kinda a tough week.. had range shooting and did pretty well with the new rifle though i still missed a few targets..
went to the forests beside ntu to do some section training.. had a lot of fun with my section mates and learnt a lot more about them.. the ground was an ex- construction site so it had a lot of stones, rubble, glass, etc.. kinda rough ground to train on.. tekong was still a much better place to train in and i'm going there soon.. haha.. learnt how to attack, defend and ambush.. like playin counter-strike.. it's fun but tiring..
soon it was thursday and everyone was looking forward to the long holiday ahead.. but before that, we had standard obstacle course TEST and navigation in forests before we can head home.. got a terrible migraine after the obstacle course but still managed to scrap through at a timing of near 10 mintues though i feel i could have done better if my condition was okay.. must be due to the haze.. =/ it had caused many people health problems for the past few weeks and i hope it would end real soon..
went home late on friday after coming back from navigation.. ran from my house to ikea then to redhill mrt.. went to have breakfast with yihang and jiayang.. glad to see yihang doing great as it was the first time he booked out since he enlisted.. haha.. he's at jaguar.. lolx.. neighbour block to hawk during my tekong days..
after that went to shop for a crumpler bag for my bro b'dae pressie.. found a nice one and i'm gonna get it the next weekend.. wanted to shop for some clothes as my clothes are kinda a bit oversized.. time for a wardrobe overhaul!! but i just can't seem to find any.. sighz.. =/ anyone wanna shop til we drop with me?? haha..
however, i finally found new shoes.. one that looks very nice and durable.. here's a pic of it.. but i changed the laces to red and it looks much better.. i just love skater shoes..
went to play soccer with my bro's friends on sunday morning.. surprised to see they knew me.. well, it's not that they've seen me before but they've heard about me in school.. my not so bad reports that were being circulated, many teachers that knew me and about the legacy i've left behind.. like a model student.. but i'm not la.. i just try my best and did what i'm required to do..
met up with everyone after that to watch death note at vivocity.. bustling crowd as usual.. just hope the crowd will disappear soon.. because i feel it's a good place for couples la.. too many people will spoil the ambience.. =p
and i had time for baking.. =D a long time since i baked.. it just felt great.. well, i can still bake despite so long.. haha.. here are some pics..

went to beach road with jianming and yihang on monday to buy their field camp stuff.. gave a lot of advice on what was required and went shopping around aimlessly at bugis.. went to chill at yihang's house after that and played daidee and the losers had to do the number of push ups equivalent to the number of cards that remained in our hands.. haha..
it was a great and fun holiday but i felt it would have been a better one.. =/ now it's come to an end and it's time for tough training ahead.. section LIVE firing on saturday.. hope nobody gets injured as my sergeants at tekong once said this was kinda dangerous.. hope to be back alive on saturday after surviving the shooting.. in the meantime, take care everyone, give your best and don't forget to enjoy yourselves.. =D

last week was kinda hard but this week was slightly better.. the post of LPS had to be changed after 3 days for every individual.. afterwhich i was given another post that was the platoon safety leader.. that is to ensure all activities are done in the safest manner as possible.. it was kinda fun la.. for example, i can let everyone to rest in the shade as the sun can make people get heatstroke and i can remind people to move down the stairs slowly lest they fall down.. or to slow down the speed they're eating to prevent choking.. HAHA..
lessons this week all the way.. navigation was fun.. got to tread around the forests using a compass to find various checkpoints.. fortunately i wasn't lost and didn't go to holland.. like what my sergeants say, people that got lost go 'Hor lan'.. haha.. saw the bridge that linked to ocs.. very nice indeed.. i wonder if it'll be more fun to cross over..
had Ippt this week.. omg.. can't believe i can do all that.. i can actually smell the gold though i didn't get gold.. my 2.4km running was 9 minutes 50 seconds.. 6 seconds short of gold.. kinda sianz at first but come to think of it, there was an tremendous improvement.. never in my life had i ever hit below 10 minutes before.. i believe i can get it when the next test comes around..
my obstacle course also had an tremendous improvement.. i used to be a dried prawn and got stuck on the low rope.. but this time round, i managed to overcome it.. i knew i could do it but it's just that mental barrier that prevented me from accomplishing it.. ran the whole shit and i think my timing is near 10 minutes as well.. an tremendous improvement as compared to the result in tekong where i couldn't even pass it.. =)
other than that, i learnt a lot of things from my section commander, sergeant james this week.. he's one fit guy who got the bodybuilder build, can do 27 pull ups and he teaches us stuff outside the syllabus.. i mean not just the military stuff but also about physical training and some life lessons..
One of which he said was that, " Focus on things and they will expand.."
to explain it to us in an more simplified manner, he told us to get a 5 cent coin each.. he said the 5 cent coin was dang small.. but what happens when u bring it close to your eye and focus on it?? it expands!! what's he trying to bring across to us was that if we were to really focus on the thing that we are doing, it'll expands and yields result!! so we must never lose focus and the result will expand and become a reality..
another which he said was that, "what you hear, you forget.. what you see, you remember.. and what you do, you'll understand.."
he's trying to say that hearing and observing is really just not enough.. sometimes we gotta carry it out practically in order to understand it.. so we should never stop learning and trying out new things..
back to camp tomorrow.. will be back next sat for a long weekend ahead.. woohoo.. thanks to deepavalli and hari raya.. while in the meantime, gotta move back to the forests for training before the holidays.. take care everyone and enjoy the week ahead..
if only things were that simple and beautiful..

this week was not actually the best of weeks.. though there were good things to highlight.. some bad ones as well.. i can cope with the training but it was when i was chosen to be the leader platoon sergeant or somthing like a platoon ic to lead my platoon.. as first screwed up a little because it was kinda the first time i became one.. i didn't get the chance to do it in tekong.. it was a good learning experience and it was really tough trying to get all the 40+ people to fall in, do work and stuffs.. because everyone do not know each other that well as yet.. some people were not that easy to work with as they do not want to cooperate..
You gotta pass down the instructions given by the sergeants to everyone in the platoon.. then some people will just forget to do this and that.. bascially it's just like you're stuck in the middle.. pressurized by the top and the bottom.. not easy.. however it was a fulfilling experience.. really honoured to be serving the people though there was a lot of do in additional to your personal stuff.. learnt about a lot of stuffs.. knew a lot about everyone in the platoon.. though i kinda raised my voice a little to tell them to form up properly after doing the standard obstacle course 3 times whereby everyone was like so tired.. was kinda a bit disappointed with the people but after a while they kinda cooperated.. i maybe seen as the bad guy but i'm just doing my job and i felt it was a job well done for a first timer.. thanks to all my section mates for their support and their help.. sometimes when the going gets tough, i'll just think of all the people that'll be cheering me on and behind me all the way.. friends, families and loved ones.. that really made me feel better and want to perservere and strive on.. just for them.
was selected for interview to be a combat engineer chemical divisions.. but i wasn't that interested in it but i admire the job these peeps do.. chemical defence is what they specialise and they will be there to thwart any terrorist threat via chemical, biological and radiological means.. but i don't like the training whereby you need to wear those gas mask and protective gear most of the time.. my interest still lies in the medical force but i doubt there's any chance for me to get in..
my sergeant was telling me that i'm too fit to go medic and medic is for those 'pai ka pai chiu' peeps.. a bit sian when he told me that but i told him i still wanna save people rather than bombing them.. hope he can help me when the time for express interest interview comes.. or maybe i can try to cross over to officer and that's what my pals told me to work hard for.. i guess we'll just have to see bout that in time to come..
now time for the good stuffs.. i finally was able break the mental barrier and complete the low rope.. =) haha.. did the obstacle course 3 times with running with ease la.. 1 time with everything on, the 2nd time with helmet and rifle and last time with nothing on.. the training there really helped a lot.. just that jump here and there a bit knee and back pain..
other than that, went to the smoke chamber for confidence test.. wore the gas mask into chamber with cs gas.. did a few exercises inside then went out.. a bit burning sensation in the nose skin and eyes but it was alrite.. glad that i did it..
friday was supposed to be mid autumn festival but i was doing guard duty la.. opening the main gate for the officers that are driving out of camp.. kinda tiring because it was like you'll do 2 hours' shift and get 2 hours' rest. but it was fun.. all the officers was like so nice and even thanked me for opening the gate.. by the way this guard duty wasn't a punishment but regimental duty that everyone will get a chance to do..
dinner and chilling session after bookout on saturday was fun!! glad to see that everyone is okay.. though i didn't seem to share a lot of stuffs bout me but really enjoyed myself eating the chocolates, ice cream, etc.. realised i became slightly a bit reserved and quiet after enlisting.. not as nosiy, lively and irritating as before.. maybe it's the fatique or i've changed. that's bad.
though it was kinda an emotional week but i really learnt a lot of stuffs and accomplished a lot.. may next week be a better and enriching one ahead.. take care everyone and give your best in everything that's to be done the week ahead.. =)
when freedom is taken away from you, that's when you really gain freedom.. that is when you treasure the time you have.

well, last week i was just so tired to blog so i didn't write bout anything.. i'm alright so don't worry bout me.. haha.. the first week was kinda killer la.. we gotta do 2 sets of 12 pull ups before every meal then can get to eat.. the sergeant that supervise us is the most dreaded sergeant Yeo!! when marching wasn't done properly, he'll just whack us la.. but for the past week which was the second week, he seemed a different person..
well, maybe he just wanted to scare us for the first week so that we won't be able to climb over his head.. he's really a nice person after all but he expects standards from us also.. helped us with a lot of stuffs that we're required to know.. talked a lot with us as well.. about his life.. about how commited a soldier he was.. like yesterday was parent visiting day and he was like hawking the army stuff.. such as the ration pack.. he say we go outfield is like going chalet, the food dam nice one so he told the parents not to worry..
he said it in such a humourous way that we all chuckled with laugther.. he likes to say Up ah, Up ah.. for example he told us that if we wanted to be 'up' , we must go through his regime of training.. for the other sergeants and warrant officers, they're a bunch of nice peeps as well.. all are regulars.. signed on to serve the nation la.. heard from a lot of people that my company is the best in the school.. in terms of standard and welfare as well.. think i did too much good deeds le.. now reaping the fruits of the good karma.. HAHA..
though it's more inspiring and more fun here than tekong but the training slightly tougher ba.. it's like an advanced bmt.. for example we never ran standard obstacle course so many times in a day before til we came here.. quite killer but in the end everyone did it, we really felt good bout it..
well, after this basic section leader course i just hope i can get into medic la.. teaching me to use weapons to kill people is just so not me.. i rather learn a life skill that i could keep and preserve lives rather than taking lives away.. we can voice out our interest but they will also see other factors also so it's like not that easy to get in but i'm still hopeful.. =)
alright, now my camp's moved to the west side at pasir laba near boon lay.. no more at tekong.. mainland le.. haha.. a bit nearer to home but it's like on the western end as well as similar to tekong on the eastern side.. 2 extreme ends.. gotta book in later at night.. take care everyone and i'll try to update all the funny and interesting stuffs that happen in camp if there's any.. =p
Happy Childrens' Day to Everyone!!
