well, just came back from camp not long ago.. kena guard duty in my first week.. =/ how bout that.. it was kinda unavoidable because there are only 26 peeps in my course.. they required 9 peeps to do it every week so everyone will have to do it at least once a month.. well, i'm training and living at kranji camp currently but when i do guard i would have to do it at khatib because it's the HQ.. living in the south, i will have to travel all the way up to the north.. have to reach by 645.. and if i were to take bus and train, i'll be late so i kinda take cab and it's kinda costly.. walked around the camp about 8 times while doing 2 hours and resting 4 hours' shift..
by the way, there are a lot of rules to abide to when in arti.. when we buy drinks from vending machine, we must ask permission.. we must run from place to place during lessons or training venues except before or after meal times.. stand by area also requires some form of standard.. really what i called a culture shock since i was previously from alpha company.. where you get plenty of goodies and welfare in addition to the high standard in training..
not trying to complain here but just trying to compare and state the differences.. we all thought it would be good to go unit but it's the other way round.. maybe life of a trainee is always worse than a recuit i guess.. everyone kinda misses alpha company.. haha.. i learnt so many lessons from so many of my sergeants.. from Sergeant Isa, he said treat your men like your brothers if you want things to get done.. from Sergeant Yeo, he said that never take the slightest things easily.. that is meaning to be alert and don't forgo any small detail lest it gets you in trouble.. From Sergeant Suffian, never compromise training standard with the welfare.. and Lastly, from Sergeant James, whom i'm still keeping contact with said to look for the goodness in people as different people have different strengths and weaknesses.. so we should focus on the strengths and use it to our advantage instead of their weaknesses.. those were the days..
i learnt how to use the director, the thingy on a tripod that you see in the roads whereby blangadeshi workers use to see the angle, even-ness of the road..it was kinda lame but good to learn something new.. didn't manage to go anywhere this weekend.. not quite done with x'mas shopping as yet.. may next week be a great one.. same goes to everyone if this is not the best of weeks.
being a sergeant is hard but not impossible.
