last week was kinda hard but this week was slightly better.. the post of LPS had to be changed after 3 days for every individual.. afterwhich i was given another post that was the platoon safety leader.. that is to ensure all activities are done in the safest manner as possible.. it was kinda fun la.. for example, i can let everyone to rest in the shade as the sun can make people get heatstroke and i can remind people to move down the stairs slowly lest they fall down.. or to slow down the speed they're eating to prevent choking.. HAHA..
lessons this week all the way.. navigation was fun.. got to tread around the forests using a compass to find various checkpoints.. fortunately i wasn't lost and didn't go to holland.. like what my sergeants say, people that got lost go 'Hor lan'.. haha.. saw the bridge that linked to ocs.. very nice indeed.. i wonder if it'll be more fun to cross over..
had Ippt this week.. omg.. can't believe i can do all that.. i can actually smell the gold though i didn't get gold.. my 2.4km running was 9 minutes 50 seconds.. 6 seconds short of gold.. kinda sianz at first but come to think of it, there was an tremendous improvement.. never in my life had i ever hit below 10 minutes before.. i believe i can get it when the next test comes around..
my obstacle course also had an tremendous improvement.. i used to be a dried prawn and got stuck on the low rope.. but this time round, i managed to overcome it.. i knew i could do it but it's just that mental barrier that prevented me from accomplishing it.. ran the whole shit and i think my timing is near 10 minutes as well.. an tremendous improvement as compared to the result in tekong where i couldn't even pass it.. =)
other than that, i learnt a lot of things from my section commander, sergeant james this week.. he's one fit guy who got the bodybuilder build, can do 27 pull ups and he teaches us stuff outside the syllabus.. i mean not just the military stuff but also about physical training and some life lessons..
One of which he said was that, " Focus on things and they will expand.."
to explain it to us in an more simplified manner, he told us to get a 5 cent coin each.. he said the 5 cent coin was dang small.. but what happens when u bring it close to your eye and focus on it?? it expands!! what's he trying to bring across to us was that if we were to really focus on the thing that we are doing, it'll expands and yields result!! so we must never lose focus and the result will expand and become a reality..
another which he said was that, "what you hear, you forget.. what you see, you remember.. and what you do, you'll understand.."
he's trying to say that hearing and observing is really just not enough.. sometimes we gotta carry it out practically in order to understand it.. so we should never stop learning and trying out new things..
back to camp tomorrow.. will be back next sat for a long weekend ahead.. woohoo.. thanks to deepavalli and hari raya.. while in the meantime, gotta move back to the forests for training before the holidays.. take care everyone and enjoy the week ahead..
if only things were that simple and beautiful..
